About Us

Our Journey

I grew up on my grandfather's farm of 450 acres in Cedar Grove, Kentucky. My dad rented a house on my grandfather's farm and worked at SKF Industries. We worked on the farm to help pay the rent. In 1973 when I was 10 years old my dad purchased 33 acres of his own. We grew tobacco, hay and bought our first beef cattle. In 1976 my dad purchased the joining farm containing 47 acres and a house. It joined the farm where we lived making a total of 80 acres. In 1976 my grandfather sold his farm because of health reasons. We then moved into the house that my dad had purchased.

I graduated from Barren County High School in spring of 1981. I attended Western Kentucky University in the fall of 1981. While attending college, I did a lot of commuting back and forth to work on the farm growing tobacco to pay for my college tuition. I received an Associate of Science Degree in Agriculture Equipment Management. Upon completion of college, I returned home to the farm and began working at our local John Deere Dealership. From 1976 to 1985 my grandfather's farm had changed ownership 3 times.

In 1985, the current owner, Richard Pedigo, stopped me on the side of the road and asked me if we would be interested in the farm. I told him I couldn't handle all of the farm. He told me to think about it. I talked with my dad and brother and we agreed to buy 100 acres on an owner financed land contract. A year later I married my wife Edie and adopted Edie's daughter Amanda. Also in 1986, we met with Farm Credit Services and Richard Pedigo. We worked out a deal to buy another 100 acres from Richard and refinance the previous 100 acres with Farm Credit Services. As this was the beginning of Siddens Farm.

Our Journey Continues

Siddens Farm was founded in 1986 as a general partnership between my Dad and mother, my brother, my wife Edie and myself. In a few years later, we bought out my brother's portion. We continued to grow tobacco and raise beef cattle and hay. In 1989 my son Tyler was born. In 1992 my daughter Cheri was born.

In December 2000 my dad passed from cancer and Siddens Farm continued as a partnership between my mother, my wife and myself. Also in January 2001,1 became the managing partner of Siddens Farm. In 2004 we reluctantly quit growing tobacco and concentrated more on cattle and hay. My mom passed away in 2017 of cancer and the partnership continued between myself and my wife Edie.

In September 2020 the thought of selling Packaged Beef came about after we had a beef slaughtered for ourselves. The beef we had processed was far better tasting than we were purchasing at the supermarket. We decided to start selling our beef with No Antibiotics, NO added Hormones, No Steroids and all natural Beef. So in October 2020 Siddens Farm Beef LLC, was started in addition to Siddens Farm Partnership. We wanted to increase sales dollars to the cattle income on the farm to adding package beef.
